No Worm is a range of deworming products for dogs and cats that treat the most common types of worms and, in some cases, the giardia parasite. At Het Vachtje in Amsterdam, you can choose from three options: the tasty No Worm PRO tablets, No Worm Diacur PetPaste, and No Worm Diacur 500mg tablets. In this article, we explain how they differ and which product is best suited for your pet.
Why regular deworming is important
Worms are among the most common parasites in dogs and cats, yet they are often overlooked when caring for them. This is because an infestation can remain hidden for a long time, so you may not notice the worms until later. Puppies and kittens can be infected through their mother, so early and regular treatment is especially important for young animals.
Worms are also zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans, and they spread easily through faeces or infected prey. An untreated or late-treated worm infestation can have serious consequences. We therefore recommend deworming your pet at least four times a year. If your dog hunts, eats food off the street, or is fed raw meat, six treatments a year are advisable.
No Worm PRO: tasty tablets for dogs
The No Worm PRO deworming tablets contain the active ingredients milbemycin oxime and praziquantel and are effective against all types of worms found in the Netherlands. The tablets treat an existing infestation and are therefore not suitable for prevention. Thanks to their pleasant taste, around 90 per cent of dogs take the small tablet directly from your hand.
No Worm PRO is available in two versions and in packs of 2 or 4 tablets: one version for puppies and small dogs weighing up to 5 kg, and another for dogs weighing 5 kg or more. This allows you to dose it according to your dog's weight.
Important: Due to the active ingredients, No Worm PRO should be dosed with caution in some breeds, including Shetland Sheepdogs, long-haired Whippets, Australian Cattle Dogs, Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Italian Greyhounds, McNabs, and White (Swiss) Shepherds. For these breeds, No Worm Diacur PetPaste is an alternative.
No Worm Diacur PetPaste: also effective against giardia
The No Worm Diacur PetPaste contains the active ingredient fenbendazole and is effective against the most common types of worms: roundworms, whipworms (in dogs), hookworms, and tapeworms. An important advantage: the paste is also effective against the infectious giardia parasite, which can cause diarrhoea in dogs and cats.
The PetPaste is suitable for dogs and cats at any stage of life and is given as a course over several consecutive days. The 4.8-gram injector is easy to dose and can be administered directly into the mouth or with food. For the breeds mentioned above, the paste is a suitable alternative to the PRO tablets.
No Worm Diacur 500mg: tablets for animals weighing 5 kg or more
The No Worm Diacur 500mg tablets also contain fenbendazole and are intended for dogs and cats weighing 5 kg or more. They are effective against roundworms, whipworms (in dogs), hookworms, tapeworms, and giardia. The pack contains 10 tablets that are easy to split and is administered as a course over several days.
Diacur 500mg contains the same active ingredient as well-known branded products and is therefore a reliable choice for the regular deworming of larger dogs and cats. For smaller animals, we can also supply the lower-dose version upon request.
