Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the use of the website and the services made available on it by Pet Shop & Dog Boutique Het Vachtje. These terms came into effect on 14/04/2020, and the publication of a new version will supersede all previous versions. This privacy policy describes what data we collect about you, what this data is used for, and with whom and under what conditions this data may be shared with third parties. We also explain how we store your data, how we protect your data from misuse, and what rights you have regarding the personal data you have provided to us.

About data processing

Below you can read how we process your data, where we (have it) stored, what security techniques we use, and who has access to the data.

Shopify

Our webshop was developed using Shopify software. The personal data you make available to us for the provision of our services is shared with this party. Shopify has access to your data to provide us with (technical) support; they will never use your data for any other purpose. Shopify is obliged under the agreement we have concluded with them to take appropriate security measures. These security measures consist of the use of SSL encryption and a strong password policy. Shopify is a certified processor of credit card data. Shopify uses cookies to collect technical information about your use of the software; no personal data is collected and/or stored. Shopify reserves the right to share collected data within its own group to further improve the provision of services. Shopify takes into account the applicable statutory retention periods for (personal) data. The EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) applies, and your data may be processed in the United States.

Shopify Email

We send our email newsletters via Shopify Email, the newsletter service integrated into our Shopify webshop platform. Your name and email address are used exclusively for sending our own newsletters and not for any other purposes. At the bottom of every newsletter, you will find an 'unsubscribe' link; you can use this link to unsubscribe at any time. Your personal data is securely stored by Shopify on the basis of the same processor agreement that applies to our webshop. Shopify uses techniques that show whether newsletters are opened and which links are clicked, so that we can improve our communication. The EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) applies, and your data may be processed in the United States.

Business email

For our regular business email, we use an external email provider. This party has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent misuse, loss, and corruption of your and our data as far as possible. Our email provider does not have access to our mailbox, and we treat all our email communication confidentially.

Shopify Payments

We use the Shopify platform to process (part of) the payments in our webshop. Shopify processes your name, address, and city details, as well as your payment details such as your bank account or credit card number. Shopify has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. Shopify reserves the right to use your data to further improve the provision of services and, in this context, to share (anonymized) data with third parties. In the event of a request for deferred payment (credit facility), Shopify shares personal data and information regarding your financial position with credit assessment agencies. All the safeguards mentioned above regarding the protection of your personal data also apply to the parts of Shopify's services for which they engage third parties. Shopify does not store your data longer than is permitted under statutory periods.

Mollie

For payments via Klarna (pay later and installments), we use Mollie. Mollie processes your name, address, email address, and payment details required to process the payment. Mollie has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data and complies with the applicable statutory retention periods.

PostNL and DHL

If you place an order with us, it is our responsibility to have your package delivered to you. We use the services of PostNL and DHL to carry out deliveries. It is therefore necessary for us to share your name, address, and city details with these parties. They use this data solely for the purpose of fulfilling the agreement. In the event that a carrier engages subcontractors, the carrier also makes your data available to these parties.

General purpose of processing

We use your data exclusively for the provision of our services. This means that the purpose of processing is always directly related to the assignment you provide. We do not use your data for (targeted) marketing. If you share data with us and we use this data to contact you at a later time without your request, we will explicitly ask for your permission. Your data is not shared with third parties, except to fulfill accounting and other administrative obligations. All these third parties are bound by confidentiality on the basis of the agreement between them and us, or by an oath or statutory obligation.

Automatically collected data

Data that is automatically collected by our website is processed for the purpose of further improving our services. This data (for example, your IP address, web browser, and operating system) is not personal data.

Cooperation with tax and criminal investigations

In certain cases, Pet Shop & Dog Boutique Het Vachtje may be required by law to share your data in connection with government tax or criminal investigations. In such a case, we will be forced to share your data, but we will resist this to the extent permitted by law.

We retain your data as long as you are our customer. This means that we retain your customer profile until you indicate that you no longer wish to use our services. If you indicate this to us, we will also treat it as a request for erasure. You will receive all extracts and copies of data in the machine-readable data format that we use within our systems. You have the right at all times to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority if you suspect that we are using your personal data incorrectly.

Right of access

You always have the right to access the data that we (have) process and that relates to you or is traceable to you. You can make a request to this effect to our privacy contact person. You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send a copy of all data to your known email address, along with an overview of the processors who hold this data, stating the category under which we have stored this data.

Right to rectification

You always have the right to have the data that we (have) process and that relates to you or is traceable to you amended. You can make a request to this effect to our privacy contact person. You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send a confirmation to your known email address that the data has been amended.

Right to restriction of processing

You always have the right to restrict the data that we (have) process that relates to you or is traceable to you. You can make a request to this effect to our privacy contact person. You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send a confirmation to your known email address that the data will no longer be processed until you lift the restriction.

Right to data portability

You always have the right to have the data that we (have) process and that relates to you or is traceable to you carried out by another party. You can make a request to this effect to our privacy contact person. You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send extracts or copies of all data about you that we have processed or that other processors or third parties have processed on our behalf to your known email address. In such a case, we will most likely no longer be able to continue the provision of services, because the secure linking of data files can no longer be guaranteed.

Right of objection and other rights

In certain cases, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data by or on behalf of Pet Shop & Dog Boutique Het Vachtje. If you object, we will immediately stop the data processing pending the handling of your objection. If your objection is well-founded, we will make extracts and/or copies of the data that we (have) process available to you and then permanently stop the processing. You also have the right not to be subject to automated individual decision-making or profiling. We do not process your data in such a way that this right applies. Google Analytics

Cookies from the American company Google are placed via our website as part of the "Analytics" service. We use this service to monitor and report on how visitors use the website. This processor may be required by applicable laws and regulations to provide access to this data. We have not allowed Google to use the obtained analytics information for other Google services.
