Pala is back in stock and the flavors are selling fast
Pala is air-dried dog food from Finland with at least 82 percent raw meat or fish, developed in collaboration with the DogRisk research institute at the University of Helsinki.
After a period during which many varieties were unavailable, Pala is well stocked again in the webshop and at the store on Haarlemmerdijk. Six of the seven recipes are currently in stock. Demand is high and the flavors are selling fast; anyone who feeds Pala or wants to try it would be wise to order today instead of next week.
What Pala exactly is
Pala combines the benefits of raw feeding with the convenience of dry food. The fresh meat, organs, and fish are slowly dried at a low temperature, instead of being extruded at 120 degrees or higher. This helps preserve proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids better. About three kilos of fresh ingredients are needed for one kilo of air-dried food; that explains the concentrated nutritional value and the small daily portion.
Each recipe consists of at least 82 percent highly digestible raw meat and fish, 13 to 14 percent vegetables and berries, and 3 to 4 percent natural boosters. No grains, no fillers, no starch, and no plant-based omegas. It also contains no synthetic vitamins, flavorings, or preservatives: all nutrients come from the ingredients themselves. For dog owners who want the benefits of raw feeding without a freezer full of food, this is a practical alternative.

Why waiting is not a good idea
Recipe #4 Rabbit, Herring & Salmon is currently sold out, as is the entire Pala treats line. That shows how quickly it can go: what is still on the shelf today is regularly gone in a short time with this brand. Because three kilos of fresh raw material are needed for one kilo of food, production cannot simply be scaled up as soon as demand increases.
If you always feed your dog one recipe, it is wise to get a bag in the house now. You would prefer to change food gradually and at a time of your choosing, not because your regular variety is suddenly no longer available. If you want to try Pala for the first time, this is the time when you can still choose from six recipes.
Which recipe suits your dog
Pala is suitable for dogs of all ages and all breeds. The recipes differ mainly in their protein profile, which makes it possible to alternate or deliberately stick to a single protein source. If your dog reacts well to chicken, beef, or lamb, a monoprotein recipe will be a good solution.
The food is available in bags of 100 grams, 400 grams, and 1 kilo. Because it contains no preservatives, we advise you to finish an opened bag within two weeks and store it airtight in a cool, dry place. If you are unsure which recipe is the right fit, call us or stop by; we are happy to calculate the daily portion together with you based on age, weight, and activity. For a specific condition, we advise you to consult your veterinarian first.
Frequently asked questions about Pala
Which Pala recipes are currently in stock?
At the moment, recipes #1 Original, #2 Chicken & Salmon, #3 Beef & Salmon, #5 Chicken, #6 Turkey, Duck & Herring, and #7 Lamb & Herring are available. Recipe #4 Rabbit, Herring & Salmon and the Pala treats are sold out.
Is Pala the same as raw feeding?
No, but it is close. Pala provides the same nutrients as raw food, namely fresh meat, organs, fish, vegetables, and berries, but without freezing, thawing, and weighing out portions.
For which dogs is Pala suitable?
For dogs of all ages, from puppy to senior, and for all breeds. For dogs that react sensitively to certain proteins, the monoprotein recipes are a good option.
Why is the daily portion smaller than with regular dry food?
Because Pala is highly concentrated. About three kilos of fresh ingredients are used for one kilo of food. Every package has a feeding table based on the weight of your dog.
Why is the stool darker with Pala?
Pala contains hardly any carbohydrates, so the body absorbs almost all the nutrients. Less and darker stool remains. That is normal, as long as your dog shows no other symptoms of illness.
