Product for the treatment and prevention of fleas and ticks in dogs of all breeds and from 7 weeks old. Fleas are among the most common parasites in dogs and can lead to skin infections, allergies, anemia (in case of severe infection) and tapeworm infections. The latter happens when the dog swallows an infected flea.
Ticks are mainly active in spring and autumn (when it is not too warm and nice and humid) and can transmit serious / life-threatening diseases (Lyme disease, Babesiosis). It is therefore important to always treat your dog preventively with a product such as Advantix. In the months when there are certainly no ticks, you can also choose to treat your dog only against fleas.
- Protects dogs against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, sand flies, stable flies and lice
- Repels ticks.
- Simple administration (drops on intact skin)
- Protects against fleas and ticks for 4 weeks
- Safe to use for dogs of all breeds and from 7 weeks of age
- Available in 5 variants (depending on the weight of the dog)
- NOT SUITABLE FOR CATS! (toxic)
IMPORTANT: Advantix is not suitable for cats! The active substance Permethrin is toxic to cats and can lead to life-threatening situations with the slightest contact with the skin or if swallowed. Do you have both dogs and cats? And do they often lie together or wash each other? Do not treat with Advantix, but with another anti-tick agent such as Frontline.
Operation:
Advantix contains 2 active ingredients (imidacloprid and permethrin) and kills fleas and ticks on contact (Spot-On). This means that your dog does not have to be bitten before the active ingredients do their work. The product also works against ticks, mosquitoes, sand flies and stable flies, is water resistant and also has a repellent effect.
Because Advantix also works against sand flies, it prevents dogs from becoming infected with heartworm (which can be transmitted by these flies). These flies and worm species do not (yet) occur in the Netherlands, but when you go on holiday to risk areas (e.g. Southern Europe) it is very wise to treat your dog with Advantix (and regularly deworm with a product that works against heartworms). such as Milbemax).
You can bring fleas (eggs) into your home on your clothes or under your shoes. That is why it is very important to also treat animals that hardly ever go outside.
Instructions
- Choose the right Advantix product based on your dog's body weight. (In borderline cases it is best to round up)
- Remove a pipette from the packaging, hold it upright and unscrew the cap. Place the cap upside down on the pipette, twist to break the seal, then remove the cap.
- Wipe away the hairs so that you can properly apply the product to the bald skin by gently squeezing the pipette. For small dogs it is best to do this in 1 spot (between the shoulder blades), for dogs over 10 kg you can spread the product over 3 to 4 spots (from head to tail). Make sure that the dog is standing in front of the best result.
- Note the date and repeat the treatment every 4 weeks.
Please note: Only apply the product to intact skin, never to cuts or wounds in the skin. Keep animals that have just been treated apart so that they cannot groom each other's fur. The veterinary medicinal product has a bitter taste. If your dog licks the area where you administered Advantix after treatment, he may start to drool. This is not a problem and will disappear on its own.
After treatment, try not to touch the wet spot(s) for about 20 minutes, so that it can spread properly (and you don't get dirty hands).
The product is water-resistant, but can lose its strength slightly when swimming and/or washing the dog frequently and therefore lasts less time.
Are you also thinking about the environment and deworming?!
Fleas lay many eggs and by swallowing a flea, for example by biting or licking the fur, a dog or cat can get worms. Therefore, if your pet has fleas, always treat the house with an environmental spray (vacuuming and mopping is often not sufficient because of the adhesive layer around the eggs). Also make sure that all animals in the house are treated with a flea product, even those that do not seem to be bothered by anything or do not or hardly go outside. A few days after treatment of all pets, it is highly recommended to deworm all animals one or more times. Worms are not easy to see (if they are visible in the feces it is already too late), but they can cause very serious health problems for both your pet and yourself. Prevention is better than cure.
