Care:

The leather does not lose its beauty through daily use, but rather gains charm and individuality through the leather marbling. Although leather products age individually over time and tell their own story, the right care is strongly recommended to maximize the lifespan. A cloth moistened with water in combination with gentle rubbing is sufficient to clean the leather. The remaining moisture must then be absorbed with a dry cloth. Regular oiling keeps the leather soft and supple.

Important:

Neither the collar nor the leash may be treated with aggressive cleaning agents or exposed to intensive, prolonged contact with water, e.g. through bathing or swimming. For optimal protection against water and dirt, we recommend using a water-repellent spray.

To avoid unnecessary exchanges, it is important to measure the correct collar size before you order. We offer you two simple methods to do this:

Method 1 - Measuring with an already fitting collar

If you already have a collar that fits your dog well, you can measure the length of this collar. Measure from the beginning of the buckle (where the pin rests) to the hole that is currently used. Compare this measurement with the length information in our size chart and choose the right size. Note that this method works best if the new and old collars are of comparable thickness (see explanation below).

Method 2: Measuring the neck circumference

If you do not have a suitable collar at hand, you can directly measure the circumference of your dog's neck. Take a measuring tape (or a piece of string that you then measure with a ruler) and place it around your dog's neck at the place where you want the collar. The measuring tape must fit well, but not cut in. Compare this value with the information "Suitable neck circumference" in our table and choose the right size. We have already taken into account a margin of 2-3 cm for a comfortable fit. If you prefer a particularly loose collar, you can mentally add another 1-2 cm.

Why do length and circumference differ? At first glance, measuring a collar seems easy, but there is an important difference between the measured length of a collar and the actual resulting neck circumference. The difference is caused by the thickness of the collar. If a collar is 40 cm long when measured flat, it will not automatically have a circumference of 40 cm when worn. This is because the thickness of the collar reduces the inner diameter of the circle when it is around your dog's neck. The thicker the collar, the greater this effect. For example: a collar with a thickness of 8 mm reduces the inner diameter by these 8 mm, which according to Pythagoras' theorem results in a circumference that is approximately 2.5 cm smaller. Therefore, our plain collar with a length of 38 cm - 44 cm only fits a neck circumference of 33 cm - 39 cm. This difference takes into account both the smaller inner diameter and the extra room for wearing comfort.

Also pay attention to the information in the section "How to determine the correct collar size". If you are torn between two sizes, we recommend ordering both sizes. This way you are sure that your dog gets the collar that fits perfectly and you avoid the extra costs of a possible exchange.
